Beauty And The Beast Stained Glass

Brand: Tenyo
Pieces: 456
Size: 18.5cm x 55.5cm
Product Code:  DSG-456-732

Japanese puzzle brand Tenyo make such beautiful puzzles, and I thought it was about time I put another one up.

This one is part of their stained glass range, where they take multiple characters from a Disney film and recreate a scene to feature them. There are several puzzles available in this style and I love them all- they're just so striking to look at!

I've always been a fan of Beauty and the Beast- I could always relate to Belle and her love of books and reading- so I couldn't resist this one. As usual, the quality was spot on, and although the pieces are smaller than average, this also appeals to me greatly cos it means less space taken up to do the puzzle.

A beautiful image and another successful Japanese puzzle...

Haruyo Morita: Higasa

Brand: Eurographics
Pieces: 1000
Size: 48.89cm x 67.63cm
Product Code: 6000-0742

I haven't posted any Eurographics puzzles for a while, so I thought it was time to remedy the problem!

This design was adapted from an artwork by renowned and popular Japanese artist Haruyo Morita, and is one of a few that the Eurographics brand has included in their collection. I love the details in the kimono and the vibrant colours used in the background behind the geisha. In fact, all of the designs are beautiful.

I do, however, have one complaint, and it is not one I have had to make before, When putting together this puzzle, I noticed that the pieces were not cut well at all. This was the first time I ever encountered something like this and I was particularly surprised because I know that the quality of these puzzles is usually pristine. It seems as though the blades of the machine that cut this particular batch of puzzles was blunt and rather than change it, the company continued to (poorly) cut the designs. As a result, the pieces were difficult to put back together and the quality was terrible. I was lucky enough to get a full refund from the place I purchased it from after I alerted them to the problem and a replacement given. I wish I had thought to take photos of the ill-cut puzzle for you but it completely slipped my mind.

Regardless, the design is beautiful, the puzzle was replaced with no drama and I learnt the valuable lesson that no matter how renowned a puzzle company can be, quality control can always be compromised.

Our Days Turn Round And Round

Brand: Epoch
Pieces: 1500
Size: 50cm x 75cm
Product Code:  15-079

If you're looking for a Japanese puzzle that is bright, fun and unique, you need look no further than offerings such as these by Epoch puzzles. This puzzle features small pieces (which I love) and a vibrant design (created by renowned Japanese illustrator Kayo Horaguchi). The attention to detail is incredible and as you do the puzzle, you will come across more and more different details that may have escaped your attention the previous time around. So far, I have done two of her puzzle designs and I hope to eventually do more.
They're definitely stand-outs in my collection!

Light Changed Sweet Sugar Cube

Brand: Epoch
Pieces: 2016
Size: 50cm x 75cm
Product Code: 23-085

I felt like putting up a 'busy' puzzle today, and you can't get more busy than this one!

Featuring the artwork of Japanese artist Kayo Horaguchi, this is a vibrantly coloured and chaotic design which features mystical castles, floral-topped cats, flying horses and amanita mushrooms. With tiny pieces, this puzzle was an absolute pleasure to do, and less challenging than you may think. Although there were some instances when colours were similar, most of the shades were specific to a certain area of the design which made it less difficult to place them.

This was my first attempt at an Epoch branded puzzle and I wasn't disappointed. The combination of quality and design was outstanding and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I only have one small complaint, and that is that some of the pieces were cut so finely (due to their size) that the edges broke off (but this only happened on two and can understandably happen with any brand).

I'll be taking on more Horaguchi designs in future, as well as Epoch branded puzzles, because they're definitely my cup of tea! :)

Disney Character World

Brand: Tenyo
Pieces: 1000
Size: 29.7cm x 42cm
Product Code:   DW-1000-260

It's time for another Disney puzzle!

Even though I've done a few Disney-themed puzzles since posting the last one, I have decided to hold off on posting up the pictures so that I can showcase other brands/themes of puzzles as well. After all, I love doing all types of jigsaw puzzles- not just Disney- and I like to give them all a fair go on my blog/ Instagram!

So anyway, after a bit of a posting break, here is another...

This one is from the Japanese brand Tenyo. I absolutely adore this brand- the pieces are always of the highest quality, their designs are wonderful and best of all, they often are made up of smaller pieces, which means that you can usually fit a 1000 piece puzzle onto a smaller board. This in turn means a smaller working space- great if you don't have much room allocated for putting together puzzles!

This design drew me because of the assorted Disney imagery. It features a fantastic mix of old and new characters, all laid out in a charming collage style.

Any fans of Disney are sure to love the iconic scenes pictured from some of Disney's best-loved films- I know I certainly did!

Japanese Garden

Brand: Cardinal
Pieces: 500
Size: 35.5cm x 27.9cm
Product Code:    -

Isn't it amazing how fast time flies.

It was only two years ago that I had just returned from a fantastic holiday to Japan with my then boyfriend (now husband), but I didn't even realise it had been so long until Facebook 'reminded' me!

To mark the occasion, I have decided to put up a picture of one of my Japanese-themed puzzles.

This puzzle by Cardinal was a pleasure to do, and the first I ever did from this brand. The puzzle pieces are quite small (which is something I tend to appreciate with a small working space) and well-made. The design, as you can see, is stunning. While we were in Japan, we saw many traditional temples and gardens like this one (especially in Kyoto) and this puzzle brings back beautiful memories.

If you have never been to Japan, I highly recommend visiting- the country and it's people are beautiful!
