Fables In Felt

Brand: Delfy

Pieces: 1000
Size:  70cm x 50cm

Product Code: DE-25008

Lately I've been fascinated by the amount of 'textured' puzzle designs that have been on the market. These vary in form from mountainous scenes to animals, and appear as either paper-crafted or stitched designs.

They look incredible when complete and pop out from the design in a way that looks more 3D than anything!

I have to admit that a few may have made it into my home, including the one above. There is so much detail and texture and I absolutely love the look.

Have you tried one of the above style? Let me know your thoughts...

Disney 100

Brand: Arrow Puzzles

Pieces: 1000
Size:  69cm x 50cm

Product Code: 19914

In a few days it will be 'Star Wars Day' (aka May the 4th) so I thought I'd put up a puzzle featuring characters from the popular franchise. Although this one also shows characters from Disney and Marvel, I thought it would be relevant to the day. I have done quite a few Star Wars-themed puzzles throughout the years but this was the only photo I had currently that I could use for the upcoming day.

The quality of this puzzle was quite good and the image was appealing as it represented a mix of characters in celebration of Disney's 100th celebrations. I'm pretty sure I have more Star Wars puzzles in my collection- I just have to get around to finding and doing them!

50 Must-Watch Movies Bucket List

Brand: Ridley's Jigsaw Puzzles

Pieces: 1000
Size:  55cm x 70cm

Product Code: JIG066

I used to love watching movies in my downtime while I was studying at school and university - it was the way I relaxed after hitting the books (although my mum probably thinks I spent more time watching films than actually studying!)

So when I saw this puzzle design, the nostalgia hit and I had to do it. I've seen quite a few of these films (although I can't be bothered counting right now to give you an exact amount) and I loved the images used to portray each one. The illustration style really drew me in. This puzzle was fun to do, and took me less time than I expected, considering it's 1000 pieces. It also came in a 'popcorn-style' bucket rather than a normal rectangular box, which created a bit more interest.

Do you enjoy doing puzzles that feature 'checklists'? How many of the films in this puzzle have you watched?

Funny Animals

Brand:
Yazz

Pieces: 1000
Size:  68cm x 48cm

Product Code: 3867

It's finally the Labour Day long weekend!

I've been hanging out for this for such a long time - I definitely could use the break after working so many extra hours over the last few weeks. In fact, this time last week, I was unable to post because I was working my first Saturday in a very long time. But thankfully that's all done now and I can go back to regular posting and weekend activities.

Today we have plans to visit the Werribee Zoo (because we were gifted a membership for Christmas and, well, why not?!) so I have decided to put up this puzzle of a collection of different animals. Granted, many of the animals in this design are farm animals and wouldn't be found in a zoo, but I still thought it was a cute image.

The quality of this puzzle was fantastic and I really enjoyed putting it together.

Are you having a long weekend this weekend? If so, how will you be spending it?

New York City Life

Brand: Eeboo

Pieces: 1000
Size:  58.4cm x 58.4cm

Product Code: -

You may have noticed that this week's post is a day late... or maybe you didn't...

Either way, I apologise for the delay in getting my post to you.

I ended up working yesterday morning (unusual for me on a weekend nowadays) and so I was unable to get anything up before I had to leave home and clock on for work.

I was helping to set up our stall for the Melbourne Toy Fair, and even though I was busy most of the time, I did get to have a sneaky look at a few stalls as I passed by them. I'm hoping that when I'm back there working on Wednesday, I might be able to have a proper look, and perhaps even make some puzzle purchases from stalls if they'll allow it.

In the meantime, I'm going to put up this puzzle that I completed a little while ago.

I thought it was somewhat relevant because some of the people I work with just came back from the New York Toy Fair, and over the last two days I have been helping to set up for the Melbourne one (no comparison in size or excitement though!).

The puzzle was typical of Eeboo, with a detailed and well laid-out design, vibrant colours and good quality pieces. As always, no complaints except for maybe the glossiness of the pieces but that's not really anything to worry about unless you're trying to take a decent photograph of the finished design.

Hopefully I'll be back on schedule next week, but until then, happy puzzling!

Chinese Calendar

Brand: Eurographics

Pieces: 1000
Size:  48.89cm x 67.63cm

Product Code: 6000-5694

As the Chinese New Year has just begun, I have decided to put up this puzzle in celebration of the event.

This puzzle, designed by Lucia Heffernan, features all twelve animals of the Chinese Zodiac. As I have mentioned previously, I enjoy looking at designs that feature this kind of theme, and the Chinese version is no exception to the rule. The colours in this puzzle were vibrant and the puzzle was quick to do when you sorted the pieces into the 'panels' - it was almost like doing twelve individual little puzzles.

Are you interested in designs like this, as I am? If you enjoy zodiac-themed puzzles, does that interest extend towards Oriental zodiac-themed designs such as the Chinese New Year?

The Brown Beauty

Brand: Magnolia Puzzles

Pieces: 1000
Size:  68cm x 48cm

Product Code: 1717

With the new release of Magnolia Puzzles' latest designs- and another collection from popular artist Romi Lerda- I have decided to post a photo of one of their previously released puzzles, which I had the pleasure of doing last year. I think I have bought most of the puzzles from their previous collaborations, and I look forward to collecting the next lot too.

Featuring big-eyed pretty faces, the collections are made up of both recognisable and original characters. The above is one of the original girl designs, and it was fantastic to piece together, with just enough of a challenge to keep it interesting.

Do you enjoy this art style and these puzzles? Have you got any in your collection?

Beach Buddies

Brand: Page Publications

Pieces: 1000
Size:  70cm x 50cm

Product Code: -

Welcome to a brand new year of puzzling adventures!

I hope you've had a wonderful and safe Christmas and New Year break, and managed to get a bit of puzzle assembly in...

I had the opportunity to post last Saturday (in that strange limbo between Christmas and New Year) but decided to take a break and do an actual puzzle instead. I got a nice little one done but I haven't yet had the chance to take a photo of it, so I am instead putting up this one from my backlog.

I aim to take photos more regularly this year, simply so that I can get them up and clear my puzzle boards faster.

Did you get any cool puzzles over the break? Either as presents or purchased by yourself during the sales?

I'd love to see them if you did!

Breakfast & Love

Brand: Magnolia Puzzles

Pieces: 1000
Size:  68cm x 48cm

Product Code: 3491

This is the last weekend before Christmas, and things are starting to get hectic!

Between work, present shopping and celebration preparation, there has been very little time to puzzle. And therefore, very little time to puzzle Christmas designs. I have decided to put up the above puzzle cos it sends out good, relaxed, and loving vibes in the lead up to the next few days.

This image, which was illustrated by Ana Jaren, drew my attention as soon as I saw it. There were a few of her designs in this Magnolia release and I also had to purchase those!

The puzzle design was fun and quite easy to do when you worked in colour patches, and the pieces were beautiful quality as always. Magnolia Puzzles really are amazing quality and you'd be doing yourself a great favour trying them if you haven't already.

Anyway, I have much to do so I'm going to leave it at that.

I'm going to skip posting next week (potentially, but that depends on how busy I am), but if you don't hear from me, I hope you have an amazing Christmas and New Year holiday. Have fun puzzling (if you get the chance) and best wishes for a safe and happy festive season.
