Counting The Beat: Concert Tonight

Brand: Holdson
Pieces: 1000
Size: 68.8cm x 49.3cm
Product Code: 77278

Is anyone else really excited about the country's borders opening up and live music coming back?! A couple of weeks ago, my hometown Geelong hosted an impromptu concert for The Foo Fighters- I swear it was announced one day, tickets went on sale the week after and the concert was the following week! It sold out straight away of course, but they're coming back in December to Melbourne and the rest of Australia (got tickets to that one ;) )

But since then, Ed Sheeran has announced a tour and so have soooo many other international acts- I can't wait!

I thought I'd put up this puzzle because of that. It features concert and gig posters of so many amazing bands/performers from over the years. I've even seen some of them live! This puzzle was a pleasure to put together, with a great design and well-fitting pieces. There is also an accompanying design to this one which I also have and plan to do at some stage soon.

Are you looking forward to any upcoming concerts? How long have you been waiting to see them?

Will & Kate And The Royal Baby George

Brand: Holdson
Pieces: 1000
Size: 69cm x 49cm
Product Code:  09479

As Australia is part of the monarchy, we often hear all the gossip associated with the English royal family. While a lot of it can be dribble, there can sometimes be just as much of interest. Over the last few weeks, we have heard a lot more than usual coming from Buckingham Palace- Prince Philip's retirement from royal duties, Princess Charlotte's second birthday, the Pippa Middleton (Kate's sister) wedding-  and so I thought I'd post a photo of this puzzle in relation.

While the content of the design is now quite old, I think it is still a lovely reminder of the fairytale wedding and the birth of Will and Kate's sweet little prince. The images really portray the easy-going and loving nature of the couple, and highlight just why they are such popular royals.

In terms of the puzzle, the design was relatively easy to piece together (when working in sections) and the quality of the pieces was fantastic. I haven't done many Holdson puzzles, but the standard is quite high from what I've seen and I'm sure I'll continue to do them.

Kindred Spirits

Brand: Holdson
Pieces: 1000
Size: 49.3cm x 68.8cm
Product Code:  09492

Yesterday was St Patrick's Day- the cultural day of celebration for Ireland's foremost patron saint.

For some, it is a day like any other, but for others, the celebrations can take on a wild turn. For guests at many Irish establishments, the day was decked out in greenery, Guinness beer, atrocious accents and Irish jigs. For those who had an interest in the day but weren't keen to go overboard,it was enough to wear a dash of green and listen to a tune from a more contemporary Irish band (U2 or The Script, anyone?)

As far as I'm aware, I have no Irish blood within my family, but I was still keen to commemorate the day of the Irish, so I tried to find a puzzle that would be relevant to the day.
This was harder than I expected. As such, the above puzzle was the best that I could find, and only because there were so many shades of green in it!

This one was a little bit harder than I expected. As I mentioned just before, there were so many shades of green that initially, it was difficult to determine which piece went where. After a while, my eyes adjusted to the different shades and sorting was easier. In fact, it ended up harder to piece together the tree in the end than the green background behind it!

This was a beautiful puzzle to do. The final image is gorgeous and the detail is magnificent. This puzzle is perfect for dragon aficionados, fantasy lovers and fans of Anne Stokes' artwork.

Ballroom Blushes!

Brand: Wasgij? (Holdson)
Pieces: 1000
Size: 68.8cm x 49.3cm
Product Code:  17

Even though I like to post up pictures of all the puzzles I do, I was a bit hesitant about putting up this one.

I think it may have been because I was worried about ruining the surprise involved in doing Wasgij? puzzles, where the picture on the box only provides a clue as to what the finished image will be once the puzzle is complete.

Despite this concern, I did decide to put it up after all. I mean, what does it really matter? You only have to google the title to have plenty of other images pop up- mine is hardly going to make a difference!

This was a fun and slightly different puzzle to do. Like I mentioned earlier, the picture on the box is only a clue as to what the final image will be, which makes the puzzle slightly more challenging. You have to use your detective skills to work out where the pieces go and what you're going to end up with.

Ballroom Blushes is number 17 in this series, and it's the only one I have done so far, but I'm sure I'll pick up more in the future, provided they are still around.
