Thriller Classics

Brand: Clementoni (High Quality Collection)

Pieces: 1000
Size:  69cm x 50cm

Product Code: 39602

Last weekend, I was going through my puzzle collection and sorting all my completed puzzles from my new and uncompleted ones. My hope is to sell or give away the ones that I have done so that I can make some more room in our house (and maybe make a bit of extra cash on the side). I'd like to add that my husband was also pushing me to complete this task because he's getting a little frustrated with seeing puzzle boxes everywhere! Oops!

Anyway, I managed to get together all the ones that I wanted to sell (including the one above if anyone is interested) and came to a grand total of 126! These are ones I have completed, taken a photo of, and put aside, and range in piece count and brand variety. I'm thinking of either listing them on Facebook or eBay, or holding a market stall and just trying to sell them. What would you do with that kind of quantity?

Something to think about...

Anyway, let's move to today's puzzle... The above puzzle was a pleasure to do, and I was happy to recognise most of the titles, even if I hadn't necessarily seen the film. This puzzle would've been a good option for Halloween actually. I was happy with the quality of the puzzle and the way that it pieced together. The colours were vibrant and the layout of the design was interesting and caught my attention.

Do you enjoy doing collage-style puzzles? I have a few more in my collection that I'm keen to do....

Until next time... happy puzzling!

Counting The Beat: Concert Tonight

Brand: Holdson
Pieces: 1000
Size: 68.8cm x 49.3cm
Product Code: 77278

Is anyone else really excited about the country's borders opening up and live music coming back?! A couple of weeks ago, my hometown Geelong hosted an impromptu concert for The Foo Fighters- I swear it was announced one day, tickets went on sale the week after and the concert was the following week! It sold out straight away of course, but they're coming back in December to Melbourne and the rest of Australia (got tickets to that one ;) )

But since then, Ed Sheeran has announced a tour and so have soooo many other international acts- I can't wait!

I thought I'd put up this puzzle because of that. It features concert and gig posters of so many amazing bands/performers from over the years. I've even seen some of them live! This puzzle was a pleasure to put together, with a great design and well-fitting pieces. There is also an accompanying design to this one which I also have and plan to do at some stage soon.

Are you looking forward to any upcoming concerts? How long have you been waiting to see them?

Broadway Musicals

Brand:
 Re-Marks

Pieces: 1000
Size: 33cm x 99cm
Product Code:  -

I'm so excited! I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but I'm a big fan of musicals- I've seen so many over the years in Melbourne and would love to visit Broadway or The West End at some point in my life. I don't have a preference for any particular musical- I've seen everything from Wicked to Annie, and from We Will Rock You to The Lion King

Yesterday I got an email about the Frozen presale starting tomorrow (which will be showing in Melbourne this winter) and got super excited. I loved the film and am really looking forward to seeing a musical adaptation on the stage. I don't know how we'll work it with new baby here, but I'm sure we can arrange something- I have plenty of people willing to offer their babysitting services!

In the meantime, I have decided to put up this puzzle featuring the posters for some very well known Broadway Musicals. I've seen quite a few of these (although there are also some I've never heard of before).

I was a little bit disappointed with the quality of this puzzle however, despite the awesome design. The pieces were cut atrociously- I think the blades must have been blunt, and because of this, I really struggled to put the pieces together. But despite this, I still enjoyed doing it- I've done a few Re-Marks puzzles and that was the only bad one I've had so maybe I was just unlucky. Oh well...

Are you a musicals fan? How many of the above have you seen?

Disney Vintage Posters

Brand: Ravensburger
Pieces: 1000
Size: 70cm x 50cm
Product Code: 198740

It's been a while so we're going Disney again today!

The above puzzle by Ravensburger features a collection of vintage posters advertising various Disney films on their original release.I love the layered effect of the design, and the informative border that tells the name of each film and its release year. It's amazing how all of these films have stood the test of time and are still popular today, despite decades having passed!

Even more amazing is the fact that some of these films are so well-loved that Disney is remaking/ has remade several as part of their live-action reboots over the last few years- inspiring a new generation of Disney lovers and dividing the rest of us about which film is better (the original or the remake!)

Whatever your preference, there is no doubt that the films in this design are universally loved, and this puzzle is perfect for fans of each and every one of them!

Sydney 2000 Olympics Historical Posters Puzzle

Brand: Mattel
Pieces: 1000
Size: 70cm x 49cm
Product Code: 53562

Well we're currently five days into the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and the competition is certainly fierce as our athletes vie for top position and a chance at gold.

Held every four years, the Olympic Games pits the best of the best from each country against one another for the ultimate glory in their sporting field- a gold medal and the adoration of a worldwide audience. So far, at the time of writing, the United States is leading the medal tally, with China, Hungary, Australia (yay!) and Russia not far behind. Time will tell who will be the ultimate winner of the Games, but at this point, anybody could come up best.

In commemoration of the Olympics, I decided to dig out this puzzle which I purchased, completed and framed just before the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Released prior to the event, and intended as a 'fundraiser' of sorts to contribute to the staging of the Games, this puzzle features the historical posters of all the Games of the modern era (from Athens 1896 to Sydney 2000). The posters are laid out in a clockwise circular direction, leading into the Sydney 2000 poster at the centre of the puzzle.

This was a great puzzle to complete, not just for the historical value, but to see how each country's poster advertised the Olympic Games and how the styles of each varied. It was quite easy to do, as I was able to sort the pieces into sections and almost complete it a block (or poster) at a time.

It's not that easy to find Olympics memorabilia like this puzzle, and while it doesn't have any posters of the more recent games of the last 16 years, at least it portrays a small piece of the Olympic Games' rich history.
