The Burbs

Brand: One But Many

Pieces: 1000
Size:  70cm x 50cm

Product Code: -

When I was preparing for a puzzle sale a few weeks ago, I started sorting through some of my older puzzles that I knew I wanted to get done in time to add to my sell list.

This was one of those puzzles.

I bought it from One But Many just as they were closing down their puzzle business, because I loved the illustrated design by Alice Achoo. It's such a vibrant and detailed representation of life in the suburbs, and while I didn't sell it this time around, I'm sure it won't be long before someone snaps it up.

In the meantime, I'm going to continue to look for unique and interesting puzzle designs that follow this same style of illustration. Have you seen any of interest like the puzzle above?

Portofino, Italy

Brand: Cardinal
Pieces: 500
Size: 27.9cm x 35.5cm
Product Code:  -

I felt like putting up a travel scene today- a beautiful aerial shot of the coastal town of Portofino in Italy,

I have never been here but I adore the colourful view of this place, with its brightly painted buildings alongside vibrant blue water. It has a nice summery feel in comparison to the cold greyness of home right now.

This puzzle had quite small pieces (which, as you probably remember, I absolutely love) and the colours were vibrant. The pieces fit well together too, which is always a bonus with these cheaper brands.

Dream City

Brand: Ravensburger
Pieces: 1000
Size: 70cm x 50cm
Product Code:  194025

This puzzle by Ravensburger was a joy to do- I couldn't look past the bright, cheerful and vibrant colours and the simplistic but pretty design. Because of all the colour blocks, I was also able to complete it fairly quickly.

Sorry for the brevity of this post. I'm not really feeling well and I just wanted to put up this before going back to bed! Hopefully I'll be on the mend for next week's blog and Instagram!

Nob Hill By Jack Allen

Brand: Puzzle Collector Art (Lafayette Puzzle Factory)
Pieces: 1000
Size: 51 x 68cm
Product Code:  -

Every now and then, I like to shake things up in my puzzle collection and do a scenic design.

While there are plenty of 'old-fashioned' designs out there that feature cosy cottages or nature scenes, this one stood out to me for its vibrant colours.

While it's actually an illustration of a town- Nob Hill- rather than a photo, I thought it captured the bustle of a township perfectly. I had never actually heard of Nob Hill before doing this puzzle, but a quick Google search told me that it is a neighbourhood in San Francisco, USA, and that it is one of the original 'Seven Hills' of the city. I'm assuming this is the illustrator's representation of the place, with it's iconic trams (or cable cars, as they call them), swanky restaurants and a little harbourside port, I'm not sure if any of the places in this picture actually exist in real life, but it wouldn't be a bad place to visit.

This puzzle was relatively quick to do when you divided it into colour sections, and the quality of the pieces was spot on- no problems at all!
