Disney Double Sided

Brand: Typo (Cotton On)

Pieces: 1000
Size: 80cm x 50cm

Product Code: -

I said I'd try and do a 'love-themed' puzzle today because it was Valentine's Day during the week but of course, I never got around to it. So I had to search through some previously completed images and find something. The above was the most 'romantic' one I could find in my quick search and so here it is!

I did this double-sided puzzle a few years ago, but it was not as great as I expected unfortunately. The Sleeping Beauty image was so pixellated and poor quality. It was almost as if they took the image, enlarged it and printed it, without a further thought! The other side wasn't quite as bad, but it also wasn't too great. Typo is a stationery store (an offshoot from the Cotton On clothing brand) so it was somewhat expected that it wouldn't be the best puzzle but still disappointing regardless.

But enough said about that! I'll make sure I find a better image for next week! Besides, my photos of it aren't too bad and sometimes it's good to feature images that are a little less perfect...

Sleeping Beauty

Brand: Masterpieces Puzzle Co.
Pieces: 1000
Size: 49cm x 68cm
Product Code:   -

Happy new year!

It's set to be a scorcher today in Victoria, and along the East Coast of Australia, and I was thinking of putting up a summer-themed puzzle because of this. But then I reconsidered and decided to put up the above puzzle instead! I have been so tired lately, with a lot of broken sleep due to the weather and late nights, so I thought a picture of Sleeping Beauty might be appropriate (cos she is what I ain't!).

The above puzzle is from a company I have not previously had any experience with, but I still thoroughly enjoyed. The design on each piece was quite detailed and colourful, and the pieces were of a similar ilk to the ones that SunsOut produce- weird and wacky shapes that could go anywhere but fit together perfectly when you get them in the right place.

A lovely take on a classic fairytale, this puzzle took me a little bit longer to do than I expected but the end result was worth it. There are other fairytale designs in this series and I intend to do them all eventually. Another cool thing about these puzzles are the boxes they come in, which are shaped like books- you open up the box (as though it is a book) to reveal the puzzle pieces inside! This makes them the perfect gift for puzzlers who enjoy reading :) This design is also painted by Aimee Stewart, a well-known artist- so you know that the resulting picture is top quality!

Brilliant Princesses (Disney)

Brand: Tenyo
Pieces: 1000
Size: 29.7cm x 42cm
Product Code:  DW-1000-433

As you may have figured from viewing this blog and my accompanying Instagram account, I'm a really big fan of Disney, and have been since early childhood. There's just something about those familiar characters that makes me want to relive some of the moments I watched on video (back in the day!) and later DVD. As a result, when I see a Disney jigsaw puzzle available, I can't help but go a little bit gaga and get all nostalgic!

This puzzle covers the bases- it's Disney, it's made by one of my favourite Japanese jigsaw puzzle makers, Tenyo, and, best of all, it features six of the popular Disney Princesses. It's also slightly unique in its design, with a stained-glass window style (although the pieces are made of cardboard). I think there may be a similar puzzle (also by Tenyo) available, made using coloured plastic pieces, although I was not able to get a hold of that version.

Another unique aspect to this puzzle is the piece sizes. Each piece is tiny- slightly smaller than an Australian five cent piece (the size equivalent to an American dime)- which means that the finished puzzle is quite small compared to other 1000 piece puzzles.

The pieces in this puzzle are tiny

This puzzle has a bright and pretty design and would make a key addition to the collection of any Disney puzzle lover. I found that it was easier to work on each individual princess and then do the black border last of all to save on confusion, especially since some of the pieces seemed interchangeable.Make sure you look out for this one!
