Yesterday (August 26th) was International Dog Day, so I was scanning through my completed puzzle images to find something appropriate. 

While I did have a few that feature pups and canines, I decided to settle on this one instead. 

Not only does it feature a beautiful St Bernard dog and her pup, but it also signifies a winter wonderland, skiing, a snow lodge, warm fires and cold nights. Although we don't get snow in our part of Australia, it can get quite cold, and I chose this puzzle to both celebrate the pups, and recognise that the end of winter is nearing.

This was one of Ravensburger's larger format puzzles. 

I have done a few of them and they have always carried that same exceptional high quality as others from the brand. As a personal choice, I usually prefer the normal sized 500 piece puzzles from most brands (rather than the larger format ones) because they take up much less room on my puzzle board, but the design on this one was too enticing so I ended up buying it anyway. 

Isn't it amazing that the size of this puzzle is the same as one of their regular 1000 piece puzzles? I suppose they're good value for people who prefer the larger pieces but I only really buy them if the image appeals to me.

What more can I say? 

It's a new year, all my appointments with my obstetrician have shown than my pregnancy is going well, and it's a lovely day (weather-wise) today. Who wouldn't be feeling poochy (peachy)? Haha 

Hoping that I haven't jinxed myself now!

This puzzle was part of a collection of six that I came across while in Kmart. Each feature cats and dogs with graffiti-style artwork surrounding them- quite cute! Being cheaper types of puzzles, I expected the quality to also be cheap (and I was right- very large and thin pieces of cardboard), but the designs are cute enough that I was happy not to worry about it. 

They are from the artist Keith Kimberlin if you feel like checking them out.

Well, I'm back! And I'm happy to say that I'm feeling much better this week than I was at the same time last Saturday! I appeared to have a very short but brutal case of the cold- with very flu-like symptoms- but luckily that's mostly gone now.

Last week- on August 26 to be exact- it was National Dog Day in Australia. If I had realised last Saturday (the actual day), I would have put this puzzle picture up then. As it was, I didn't, and so I am putting it up now.

This was a puzzle from my childhood that I dug out when my parents made me do a cleanup of some of our old things stored in the garage. I highly doubt that you'd be able to find it in stores now. In fact, I don't know whether the brand even exists anymore! The pieces in this puzzle were large, made of thin cardboard (not the greatest quality) and obviously aimed at children. But oh well, nostalgia!

I decided to put this one up in a late commemoration of National Dog Day- we'll see what next week brings...

Cute Husky

Last week I spent a little bit of time with my brother-in-law, who has a husky named Sasha. She's a very affectionate dog and loves to jump up onto people (much to Kurt's consternation, considering her size!). He's had her since she was a puppy, and when I saw this puzzle image, I was immediately reminded of when she was a rascally little pup, running around and getting into mischief.

Although this Ravensburger puzzle is only 500 pieces, it's a lot larger size-wise than other 500 piece puzzles of the same brand. That is because the pieces are significantly larger than usual. That said, it was still a rather quick exercise to piece it together. The only thing that really held me up was differentiating between all the shades of grey and white in the husky's fur, to find which piece went where. 

Dog lovers, and in particular, fans of the husky breed, are sure to enjoy the end result of this cute puzzle.
