Celebration

Brand: Yarn

Pieces: 1000
Size:  75cm x 50cm

Product Code: -

Well as promised from last week, here is my Aboriginal art puzzle that I have recently completed for NAIDOC (National Aboriginal And Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week.

This design, created by Alkina Edwards, stood out to me with its vibrant colours, cool patterns and overall prettiness. While it wasn't released specifically for NAIDOC Week like some designs from the Yarn website were, it is still a pretty representation of art created by an Indigenous artist.

These puzzles were made of nice, thick quality cardboard that had a glossy finish, and also featured letters on the back for those who prefer a little hint to piece placement. I tend to just try and ignore that and do the puzzle as normal but I thought I'd mention it in case it's a little off-putting for some people and they're not aware of it- I certainly wasn't!

Yarn has a few puzzles available on their website, all created by Indigenous artists, so if you're interested in this style of art, you should check it out.

Vintage Knitting & Crochet

Brand: Ravensburger

Pieces: 1000
Size:  70cm x 50cm

Product Code: 176205

Autumn is here and the days are starting to get a little cooler, which is why I have decided to post the above puzzle image- colourful wool and knits seemed like the perfect choice.

I loved the bright and vibrant colours in this design, as well as the throwbacks to vintage knitting patterns and retro photography. Even though knitting and crocheting are crafts I have yet to master, I am still fascinated by the process and would love to one day sit down and teach myself properly. I have attempted both a few times but other projects have always come along and I've set the learning aside to do those instead. One day!

Is there a particular craft or hobby you enjoy doing besides jigsaw puzzles? Have you found a cross-over where you can do a jigsaw puzzle based on that craft or hobby? Let me know!

Colorful Yarn

Brand: Puzzlebug

Pieces: 500
Size:  46cm x 28cm

Product Code: -

If you've been following this blog for a while (or even if you haven't), you'd probably be aware that I have many other hobbies besides building puzzles, such as crafting, reading, collecting (and much more). Because of this, I don't s[end as much time as I'd like doing puzzles, but it also means that my interest in certain themes of puzzles is vast.

The above puzzle was a cheap quality one that appealed because of its subject matter- I love crafts and am an avid cross stitcher. Although the image depicts wool or yarn rather than threads, I was still drawn to it, and have decided to post it today because I am currently stitching madly to complete something for my local show. This is just a short reprieve until I pick up my needle again in a few minutes!

Despite the price of the Puzzlebug puzzles (and the cheaper quality) they still have designs that appeal to me and the above one was no exception. You can usually find a random design to suit the mood you're in.

Well, back to it. After all this show business is over, I'll be jumping right back into puzzling... Until then...

The Happy Sheep Yarn Shop

Brand:
 Ravensburger

Pieces: 1000
Size: 70cm x 50cm

Product Code: 169498

Well I'm back after two weekends of slinging popculture paraphernalia at buying convention visitors, and boy, is it good to be home!

I love that I get the chance to do things like that through work, but I equally love having my weekends back at home when all the hard work is done!

You'd think that I would have had a great puzzle lined up as a 'welcome back' kind of thing, but sadly, that was the last thing on my mind this weekend. I've been so busy just getting back into the swing of things (and readjusting from Perth's two-hour time difference lol) that I didn't get the chance.

So I have put up one that has been in my collection for a few months at least- this delightfully colourful sheep puzzle! This one drew my attention when I first saw it, simply because of the colours. The book Where Is The Green Sheep? by Mem Fox was also in rotation with my daughter at the time, so it seemed fitting.

This puzzle was fun to do, and I got it completed relatively quickly.

On a completely irrelevant side note, are you going to pre-order Reverie Puzzles new Advent/ Halloween calendar puzzles? Pre-orders open at 12pm today and I am so excited! Haha

See you next week!

Little Kitten

Brand: Puzzlebug
Pieces: 100
Size: 22cm x 28cm
Product Code: -

I'm not usually a fan of cats, but this time around, I thought I would share a pic of a puzzle I did not so long ago.

The relevance? Well there are three points:

1. I saw the live-action remake of The Lion King last week, and, not having completed any puzzles of lions recently, thought that this was the closest option to it!
2. There are balls of yarn in this picture which relate to the loom-weaving crafts I am working on at the moment.
3. It's actually quite a cute kitten.

Yep, I know.

I haven't had the chance to do much puzzling lately but I'm hoping to get back into it soon, especially with some of the new additions to my collection which I have recently purchased (despite an already overflowing cupboard). Can't wait to show you what's next in store!!
