Today (May 23) is World Turtle Day and for once I have a puzzle that's relevant to the theme!

I purchased this wooden puzzle from Kmart, along with the three others in the set (dog, cat and owl). While they were all only small piece counts - with the largest still under 300 pieces- they were somewhat challenging to do with the whimsy pieces, colourful patterns and shaped designs. 

I quite enjoyed doing this one, and the thick, interlocking pieces made the quality feel much more than I expected from a Kmart-branded item. 

I've already sold my copies of this puzzle and its counterparts but if you ever get the chance to do them, you should check them out!

Yesterday (August 8) was World Cat Day and since I had already put up my cat puzzle from Enjoy Puzzles, I had to find a different completed one in my collection to post. Voila! I did this one quite a while ago, featuring the mysterious cat from Disney's Alice In Wonderland. I loved the bright colours and the interesting patterns. Although it was 500 pieces, it was somewhat challenging to do, but I enjoyed the challenge all the same!

Today I'm keeping it relatively short cos it's the Victorian State Puzzle Competition at Malvern Town Hall and I have to prepare for the drive up and then the solo competition which will be held at 2pm. I'm so looking forward to it! Especially since it appears that the puzzle will be from the Cherry Pazzi brand and I haven't yet done a puzzle by them!

Autumn is here and the days are starting to get a little cooler, which is why I have decided to post the above puzzle image- colourful wool and knits seemed like the perfect choice.

I loved the bright and vibrant colours in this design, as well as the throwbacks to vintage knitting patterns and retro photography. Even though knitting and crocheting are crafts I have yet to master, I am still fascinated by the process and would love to one day sit down and teach myself properly. I have attempted both a few times but other projects have always come along and I've set the learning aside to do those instead. One day!

Tomorrow is the last day of 2023! I can't believe how fast this year has flown! So much has happened and yet, when I think back, it's all been a blur. 

Puzzle-wise, I've spent waaayyyy too much on puzzles, and have struggled to find spots to store them all before I have the chance to do them. I'll have to try and curb my spending next year- I have literally hundreds that I have to get through now! I also need to be more proactive in selling the ones I've completed. It may be time to do a market stall solely selling jigsaw puzzles...

I also participated in my first puzzling competition this year which was a fun (if not stressful) experience. I have already entered to do a fun, charity-based one next January in Melbourne, and will again try to compete in the state competition...

How has your puzzling year stacked up? I'm keen to go through my stats and see how many puzzles I have completed this year, plus all the other relevant info but that can wait until the new year.
