Our Solar System

Brand:
 Arrow Puzzles

Pieces: 500
Size:  61cm x 45.5cm

Product Code: 18884

One of the biggest news stories over the last week has been the journey undertaken by the Artemis space mission, where a small group of astronauts have travelled to the far side of the moon and have sent back unbelievable images of Earth. This inspired me to dig out a puzzle that features space - one that I completed many years ago and had yet to put up.

This puzzle was part of a small Space & Science collection (I think there were three puzzles in it by memory) and was an educational change from my usual puzzling images. The pieces fit together ok, despite being thin, and while the quality wasn't great, it wasn't terrible either - it was mostly standard for this brand's earlier puzzles.

That said, the design is very educational and I found it quite appealing.

I have a few other space puzzles in my collection that I haven't gotten to yet but will eventually. Have you got any puzzles of a particular theme that you'd like to attempt at some stage?

Periodic Table Of The Elements

Brand: Arrow Puzzles

Pieces: 500
Size: 61cm x 45.5cm
Product Code:  -

In Australia, from August 16-20 this year, it was National Science Week, so I thought I'd try and find a puzzle that fit in with the theme.

From Arrow Puzzles' Space & Science series, the above puzzle covers the periodic table in a bright and clear design. How many of these do you remember from school? I did Chemistry at school (even in Year 12- how insane is that?! haha it was not one of my strengths!) and I remember the first 30 elements or so...

Even though it was not my best subject, I still hold a fascination with the table above. I have also done other puzzle brands (Eurographics for example) that feature the periodic table- I'm just drawn to it for some reason!

This one was quick and easy to do and I will likely do the other two in this series (human body and space) soon.

Are you interested in educational-themed puzzles like the one above? Or do you prefer images where no learning is required?

The Periodic Table Of The Elements

Brand: Eurographics

Pieces: 1000

Size: 48.89cm x 67.63cm
Product Code:  6000-1001

In Australia at the moment, we're celebrating National Science Week (well we're towards the end of it anyway) so I thought it would be fitting to put up this puzzle for today (since I already put up Little Scientists a few weeks back).

What better representation of science than the periodic table of the elements! I remember learning the first 20 symbols and elements off by heart when I was at school and studying Chemistry, and I still haven't forgotten them!

This puzzle from Eurographics was quite easy to do when you separated each of the elements by colour and was very informative once completed. I love puzzles like these where they also have an educational aspect. The quality was perfect - I've only ever had one Eurographics puzzle where the quality was poor- and the colours are vibrant.

How many of the elements do you recognise?
