The Night Garden

Brand: New York Puzzle Company

Pieces: 500
Size: 45.7cm x 61cm
Product Code:  NPZEM1919

Turns out I could only stay away for a week! I had my beautiful baby girl last Thursday, and was home by Saturday night, but I'm sure you can understand that puzzles were the last thing I was really thinking about then (well, maybe not last...)

Anyway, we're home now, we've started to get into a routine, and while she's having her sleep now, I thought it would be the perfect time to put up a picture of another puzzle!

Today I have decided to put up a stunning puzzle which was illustrated by the talented Emily Winfield Martin as part of her Dream World series. Her illustrations are always so whimsical and pretty. This puzzle was a little challenging to do, particularly in the black areas, but it looked amazing once it was done. The pieces, in true New York Puzzle Company tradition, were all irregularly shaped, which made this somewhat more difficult to complete but I got there in the end.

I have a few puzzles on standby that I completed before bub's birth- just in case I won't be able to puzzle for a while- but I think we'll be OK. Now that we're settled, I should be able to post once a week as I did before. Let's just call last week our little hiatus!

Eleanor's Room

Brand: New York Puzzle Company (Dream World by Emily Winfield Martin)
Pieces: 1000
Size: 48.9cm x 67.6cm
Product Code: NPZEM1927

As soon as I saw this puzzle, I knew I had to have it!
Besides the cat in the image, I could completely relate to the prospect of sitting on a lounge chair, reading a book and listening to music- a fantastic way to spend the day in my opinion!
I really love the images of Emily Winfield Martin- her work is just so whimsical and pretty, and this illustration is no exception. She has produced a wide range of images for New York Puzzle Company, with a broad range of counts- from 48 to 1000 pieces (as far as I know). I'll have to see what other designs I can unearth!
The quality of these puzzles is great- the colours are vibrant, the pieces generally fit well together and are unusually cut to add a bit of a difference to the mix.

Jackalope Day Dream

Brand: New York Puzzle Company
Pieces: 200
Size: 48.3cm x 33cm
Product Code:  -

I was in a whimsical mood this morning, and so I thought that today would be the perfect time to put up this adorable design from illustrator and author Emily Winfield Martin. As part of her Dream World collection, this cute design is almost perfect for Easter (you can pretend the Jackalope is an Easter Bunny!)

Before going to North America several years ago, I had never heard of a Jackalope. But a lot of the places that I visited embraced this mythological creature and sold merchandise of it. While I picked up this puzzle online (and many years later), it still brings back fond memories of my trip...

As for the puzzle itself, the pieces were quite large (probably because the design is aimed at a younger audience and has a piece count of 200), but it was still a pleasure to do. The design is pretty and the quality is great. There are a few other puzzles in this collection (with varying piece counts), so fans of Emily Winfield Martin will have plenty to go on with if they enjoy her designs.
