Today is the day of the AJPA Nationals competition at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre and I'm so excited to be attending and competing. I went last year to compete and finished the above puzzle during the solo competition. I thought I'd put up a photo of it for nostalgia reasons. 

This year's solo competition is slightly different- instead running over 2 days - with two qualifying heats on the Saturday and the finals on Sunday. I'm in heat 2, and although I don't think I'll be fast enough to qualify for the finals, I hope I have some sort of chance. I'll definitely try my best anyway. I wonder what the puzzle will be?!

Candy Factory Fairground Concession Stand

Yesterday was National Donut Day, and I'm sad to say that I did not celebrate it in the way it was intended! 

I didn't eat any donuts, and I couldn't find any donut designs in my collection of puzzles that I could do and post for the day. I hope to remedy this for next year's event.

In the meantime, I have put up a Colorluxe puzzle of Candy Factory Fairground Concession Stand- the closest puzzle link to sweet foods that I could find in my collection of completed puzzles. 

This is one of those puzzles that has the coloured backs for 'easier' sorting, although I find them mildly annoying (particularly if the design is already bright because you may think you've found the piece you're looking for but it's actually just the back of the design). 

That said, the puzzle was quite quick to do, with the text surprisingly being the hardest part to piece together. 

I also completed this puzzle for the Global Jigsaw Jubilee, as it has a count of 1500 pieces. While it's not that pretty a design, it was good enough for a spur-of-the-moment purchase to continue the Jubilee while I waited for a pre-ordered puzzle to arrive!

I live in a regional town in Australia, and at the moment, it's show time! Every year, the Royal Geelong Show descends upon the Geelong Showgrounds and people are treated to carnival rides, sideshow games, showbags, animal and homecraft competitions, fireworks, and all sorts of entertainment. 

I try to go every year (particularly because I enter different crafts into the competitions) and this year was no exception. I wanted to put up a puzzle today to represent the show, but the above image was the closest I was able to find. Although it's not really show-related, the bright colours and the carnival-type foods that are represented on the sign seem to relate to the show better than any other puzzle I have done to date. 

This puzzle was relatively easy to do when working in colour blocks, and, while the quality is quite cheap, the image still appeals.
