Barbie: Girl Power

Brand: Crown

Pieces: 300
Size: 61cm x 46cm

Product Code: 19691

I was in the mood for Barbies and nostalgia for today's post, so here it is!

In recent months, I have located quite a few Barbie-branded puzzles (although mostly from Ravensburger) to add to my collection. I just love the memories the images invoke, plus they're so pretty!

This one was just a cheap one from Aldi but still turned out to be okay quality for a quick puzzling fix. Sometimes you can get some little gems from shops like this! This puzzle had thinner cardboard pieces and the pieces were quite large but it still came out alright.

Do you have a favourite childhood toy that you would love to see immortalised in puzzle form?

Vivid Origami

Brand: Crown

Pieces: 1000
Size: 60.5cm x 45.5cm

Product Code: -

Are you much of a crafter? Do you have hobbies outside of jigsaw puzzling that you enjoy doing? I personally enjoy cross stitching and embroidery and have dabbled in many other crafts over the years, including jewellery making (beading and silversmithing), papercraft and other miscellaneous activities.

That's why I thought I'd put up this puzzle today, featuring origami and paper folding. I love the intricacies of the artform, and how one sheet of paper can be folded into absolutely anything! I especially love this image by Aimee Stewart (which I think has also been released by other puzzle companies, although possibly under different names).

This puzzle was fun to do and so colourful- I really enjoy piecing together her designs. It was part of a fantasy series that Crown puzzles released, although I don't think the other designs jumped out at me quite so much. Regardless, I probably ended up buying them too, just to have the whole collection!

Wanderlust

Brand: Buffalo

Pieces: 1000
Size: 68cm x 50cm

Product Code: 12214

It seems like everyone is travelling or on holidays at the moment!

I have friends that are currently travelling Vietnam, Africa, Bali and Japan, and it's really making my travel bug come to the fore! But, even though I love to explore new places, sometimes I can't be bothered dealing with all the organisation involved in getting to that place. That's one of the reasons that I enjoy doing puzzles that focus on travel so much.

The above puzzle is from Buffalo, and it's one that I had been wanting to get for a long time, simply because of the colourful, pretty illustration. This puzzle was a pleasure to do, and I was able to complete it quite quickly by working in colour blocks. As I already mentioned, the design is so pretty, and I love that it covers a variety of different travel experiences. This is part of the Vivid Collection, and I'm keen to see if there are any more that might also interest me.

Harry Potter: Diagon Alley

Brand:
New York Puzzle Company

Pieces: 500
Size: 61cm x 45.7cm

Product Code: HP1358

Harry Potter is now considered a classic children's book series in my opinion, and there is always going to be hype around it.

Just recently, the Hogwarts game attracted a lot of attention, with presales and the eventual release of the game gaining huge traction.

In Melbourne, Australia, the stage show of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child is due to end in July, after several years of showing. That's where I'm going today. Yes, I finally got myself organised and I'm going to see the show!

So I thought it would be fitting to put up an old Harry Potter puzzle I had completed but not yet posted. Sure, the stage show is set when Harry and his friends are adults, with children of their own, but I thought this puzzle would still be a good one to put up. The pieces were irregularly cut and the colours had that grainy look of coloured pencil (as some illustrations do) but I really enjoyed working this one. I've never had any problems with puzzles from the New York Puzzle Company- they usually have interesting designs and good quality pieces.

Let's see if the show is as good! 😉😂

She Series: Pop Culture Edition

Brand: Lucky Puzzles

Pieces: 1000
Size: 48.9cm x 67.6cm

Product Code: LP-1000-002

I'm really short on time today so this will probably be one of my shortest posts. Today I'm going to be visiting the International Air Show at Avalon, but I couldn't find any puzzles that I have completed of a plane or aircraft (although I know I have at least one in my to-do pile).

So instead, I have put up this puzzle for International Women's Day which is to be held in a couple of days on March 8. The above puzzle was a pleasure to do and features many iconic and influential female characters from pop culture- movies, music and books. I enjoyed doing it, although the irregular shaped pieces made it a little challenging at some times.

Hopefully I won't be so rushed next weekend and will be able to put up a more detailed post! Have a great weekend!
