Home Sweet Home

Brand: Flow Workman

Pieces: 1000
Size: 67cm x 48cm
Product Code:  -

OK, the above house in the puzzle picture doesn't represent the way my home looks AT ALL, but as we in Victoria live through Lockdown 6.0, I thought that it might be appropriate (well at least the reference to home anyway).

Yes, you read that correctly. Lockdown 6.0.

I know that this one has hit more people harder than most- maybe because we only recently came out of 5.0 and things were seeming peachy. I'm not even really sure why this lockdown began. I didn't think there were any new major cases happening this time round but who knows? I just feel sorry for all the small businesses that are suffering because of it.

Anyway I digress.... the above puzzle was quite interesting to do- I don't think I had done a Flow Workman puzzle before this one and I was pleasantly surprised at the velvety texture of the pieces and the tight fit. The colours were nice too. My only complaint was that some of the pieces had a sort of dusty residue on them, which was difficult to remove. This problem obviously comes from the manufacturing level, and hopefully it isn't the same across the board for all their puzzles. I quite like the range of unique designs that they have in stock and will likely get more as time goes on.

With all the lockdowns that have happened, I'm sure I'll have the time to tackle more!

2020: Commemorating The Hardest Year

Brand:
 Unknown

Pieces: 500
Size: 52cm x 38cm
Product Code:  -

Hello Lockdown 5.0!

Yes, Victoria is in lockdown once again, with Corona cases making our premier decide that a snap 5-day lockdown from last Thursday onwards will be the way to combat it! It has worked in the past and hopefully will work again but I have to say that it's getting old. Just when we start to have a bit of freedom, we have to endure this again.

Oh well. I guess it's better than the alternative...

I decided to put this one up today because 2020 may have been the hardest year but 2021 is shaping up to be a serious rival.

You can't really tell from the photo (somehow it looks quite clear) but this puzzle was a design disaster. I received it from the website Wish (instead of the one I had actually chosen) and so I ended up getting it for free because they refunded my money. I'm so glad they did! I would NOT have wanted to have paid for it! Although the pieces fit together well (it's a wooden puzzle), the design was soooo blurry and low quality. I usually sell on my puzzles when I complete them but there's no way I could consciously sell this to somebody else.

That said, I still decided to complete it and above is the end result. Have you ever done a puzzle that had such a poor print job that you decided to chuck it in?  Next week, once lockdown (hopefully) ends, I will put up a photo of a much better puzzle!

2020 Time Capsule

Brand: Funbox Puzzles

Pieces: 1000
Size: 75cm x 52cm
Product Code:  -

Well this may very well be the last post for a little while. As mentioned in my previous post, baby is almost here and although I would love to continue updating this blog and my Instagram posts, it will all depend on baby and her eating and sleeping habits. I'm under no illusion that it will be easy to juggle everything, especially at the beginning, so I'll simply do what I can.

So which puzzle have I chosen today as my last for a while? (potentially)

I thought I'd put one up to commemorate the past year with it's pandemic-inspired trials and tribulations. This one is from an Australian company called Funbox, and is fittingly titled 2020 Time Capsule. It features everything one remembers from the lockdown experience- masks, toilet paper, home schooling, working from home, cancelled travel tickets and jigsaw puzzles. I thought this was a great (and amusing) keepsake of the experience that so many people went through. Don't get me wrong, I know that a lot of people went through (and are still going through) terrible moments in their lives because of this virus but this puzzle design looks at the 'lighter' side of it.

This was the first time I had ever done a puzzle from this brand, and I was happy with how it turned out. The quality was good, the price was affordable and the design was fun. I'll probably end up purchasing more from this company now that they've proved to me they're worth buying from...

And so that's it (for now). I won't put any baby spam up on these pages once she arrives (unless she happens to feature in a puzzle design) so ciao for now and I'll see you all when the time is right...
