Noongar Six Seasons Collage

Brand: Mr Bob Puzzles

Pieces: 40
Size: 16cm x 10cm

Product Code: -

Two days ago we had the public holiday for Australia Day (also known as Invasion Day and Survival Day). Whatever you call it, there is a lot of tension surrounding the date of January 26 nowadays.

I want to keep this page as politically neutral as possible, so I'm not going to give my thoughts on the matter. The main point of this blog is jigsaw puzzles- so that's how it will stay!

Today's puzzle is a small wooden one from Australian company Mr Bob Puzzles, designed by Kevin Bynder. This one was part of their first mini series, but is available to purchase in a larger piece count, if you so prefer. You are also able to buy each of the six seasons (separated by colour) individually. This one was a cute little snack puzzle, which still featured a few of Mr Bob's signature whimsy pieces.

Also, Happy National Puzzle Day (for tomorrow)! I hope you enjoy piecing together some of the beauties in your collection!

Pop Art

Brand:
Laurence King Publishing

Pieces: 1000
Size: 68cm x 48.5cm

Product Code: -

I thought I'd put up a slightly different kind of puzzle today- this one is a puzzle I purchased from a bookstore which features the artwork of Andrew Rae.

This design follows a Pop Art theme (as suggested by the title) and was a pleasure to do. It was fun working through the puzzle and discovering all the different references to the Pop Art genre. The best part was that you didn't even notice some of the details until you were actually piecing it together, simply because there are so many things to look at throughout the design.

I think there is a similar puzzle available that covers the Surrealism genre but I have not got it in my collection as yet.

I haven't done many puzzles from this brand but so far it hasn't disappointed. The pieces are sturdy and the quality is wonderful.

How are you going with your puzzling? Are you getting through some of the backlog of puzzles in your collection? I've just begun to do some of my smaller-count-pieced puzzles in the hope that getting them done quicker will reduce my to-do pile faster!

Breakfast In Bed

Brand: New York Puzzle Company

Pieces: 500
Size: 45.7cm x 61cm

Product Code: NPZJH2201

Do you find yourself constantly looking for new puzzle designs, even though your collection is already at an all-time high?

Unfortunately, I'm guilty of that.

The smallest things can trigger my decision to have a look at websites I often buy from.

For example, an email for a sale might pop up, so it makes sense to have a look and see what's on offer.

Or, in the case of this morning, I noticed that the Japanese Yen has gone down in value compared to the Australian dollar, so I was enticed to look at some of the Japanese sites that I haven't been on for a while...big mistake! I have already found a few I'm interested in and am currently trying to talk myself out of spending more money!

The puzzle I've posted above was one that I got on sale when it was just released, so I have decided to put it up today. The artwork is by Janet Hill Studio, and there are quite a few that were released in the collection (some in 500 and some in 1000 piece counts). I bought a few from the series, but there are even more that I have my eye on for the future- there's that pesky buying thing again!

The fit of the puzzle was snug and was made up of unusually shaped pieces (in typical fashion for the brand).

I hope to do the others in my collection soon, as I really need to reduce the amount of puzzles in my to-do list. This is especially the case if I can't curb my obsession and end up buying some more!

Snail Mail

Brand: Re-Marks

Pieces: 300
Size: 45.7cm x 61cm

Product Code: -

Well, it's a brand new year- we're already a week in!- yet everything feels very much the same for me.

I'm still spending way too much on puzzles that I want to do, but probably won't have the chance to do!

How good were some of the Boxing Day and End of Year sales?

Once again, I bought way too many and now have over 300+ puzzles on my to-do list- all of which are currently sitting in my spare room which I was hoping to clear out sometime soon!

I don't know how I'm going to get through them all (without the added pressure of completing ones that I'll no doubt continue to buy- I know I have a problem). Even if I complete one a day (unlikely), that's still gonna take me about a year to get through them... but hey, I'm willing to give it a shot! I'll just have to forgo other activities to get it done 😉

The puzzle I've chosen for today was one I completed a few years ago that features stamps from all around the world. I figured this one would be appropriate for the holidays, especially with all the travel that's taking place at the moment. This puzzle was bright and colourful, with lots of lovely stamp images. As someone who collects stamps, I enjoy looking at designs like this one.

Do you collect anything other than puzzles?
